Selecting the Right Golf AidThere are many products that will help you improve your game in one way or another. There are products that will help you correct your slice, your swing, your stance, and even your putt. Because many of these products are expensive, selecting the right golf aid to correct your specific problems can be difficult. It is also difficult to choose one golf aid, to correct one specific problem when there are several different aids available for that problem! The golf pro in the pro shop will try to sell you a lot of things. He is a golf pro, and he knows what you need, but in most cases he owns the shop, and that makes him a salesman first! His first priority is to keep his shop open and to turn a profit….not helping you correct your slice! For this reason, you need to do your own research to determine what you really need, and don’t need, before you visit the pro shop! To determine what aspects of the game you need the most serious work in, play a game with someone with more experience than you – someone who plays the game quite well. Ask them beforehand to really pay attention to your game, and at the end, to let you know what they think you need to work on the most. Also ask them for advice concerning the various golf aids available that will help you correct the problem. If you can’t find such a person to play a round of golf with, you will need to be your own advisor. Have another friend video tape your game, making sure that they capture you from different angles when you are teeing off and putting. They will even need to shoot your clubs connection with the ball several time – up close! Watch the tape, and slow the shots down to slow motion to get a better idea of what you are doing right, and what you are doing wrong. With that information, use the Internet to research various products that will help you correct your problem. Visit a golfer’s forum, and ask other golfer’s if they have tried specific products to correct the same problem, and what their thoughts on those products are. With a little time, effort, research, and conversation, you will be able to find the right golf aid for your situation. |
